IBANEZ RG550
1982 IBANEZ ARTIST
These pictures are of a 1982 IBANEZ ARTIST which i bought on ebay.
As you can see, when it arrived it had been painted with brown gloss paint - YUK !!
It took quite a while to get the gloss paint stripped off, then it was time to sand it down to the wood.
When the body, neck and head was all sanded down it was time for a basecoat of sealer.
Then the whole guitar was airbrushed with sparkalescent teal blue.
The guitar is now ready to have the artwork done on it.
It is going to have musical notation airbrushed onto it, so watch this space for the pictures when its done.
TREX 600 NO FEAR CANOPY
Here is a canopy that was just an ordinary red Trex 500 nitro pro canopy, so i rubbed it down smooth but left enough roughness for it still to have enough tooth so that the paint will stick, Then it was basecoated with white and then an all over few coats of Auto Air Iridescent brite yellow.
Then it was time to stencil on the basics of the no fear eyes and writing. I used a craft robo to cut the eyes and lettering but had to move the template around alot to get the eyes to mould around the shape of the canopy. Then it was time for some freehand work. I put red veins in the eyes and shadowing around the eyes and lettering.
The next step was 3 coats of nitro celullose laquer. When the lacquer had 3 days to harden it was time for the wet and dry treatment. I started off with 1000 grit wet and dry, then 1500, then 2000 to give it a lovely smooth finish, making sure not to go through the lacquer which can easily be done if not enough lacquer was used in the first place.
This canopy is now on my Trex 600, but everyone down my heli club says that it should say no gears on it as i keep stripping gears on my heli when im landing too hard. Nice one chaps !!!
